Thanks for taking the time to look through our site! You can find our application form and employment requirements below.
Please always remember finding work should be free. We place Employees to work for legitimate Employers in their household. We do not take any money from you or your pay check at any time.
Not Just Nannies was founded and is currently run by Erin Northcott who worked as a Nanny and Educator for over 10 years before beginning Not Just Nannies. Erin looks to place Educated and Experienced Childcare Providers and Household Staff in Private homes where they will be treated and respected as the professionals that they are. She educates families on current employment standards and discuss issues that directly affect nannies in the work place.
We will help with the following:
A Family – Childcare Provider Agreement: We are passionate about negotiating a fair and clear agreement for the employee and employer from the start. One that protects and promotes both the Employee and Employers needs and preferences. An agreement serves as the foundation to great working relationship with excellent communication.
The Right Match: Erin Northcott meets all of the families in person in their homes to get a real feel for the family and their unique needs. This way we only send applicants to the most suitable positions. Having been there ourselves we know where we are sending you and that it is a safe place.
Implementing a Monthly Art and Activity Budget: When suitable we negotiate an art and activity budget that is given on a monthly basis to enable a Childcare Provider to follow children’s interests and individual skill sets as they develop. This keeps things more exciting for everyone!
Daily Log: When appropriate we provide a daily log for the Childcare Provider and the family to use to follow a child's day, communicate in, make plans, keep track of hours worked etc.
General Support: We can answer questions, help negotiate what is right for you and listen when you have had a tough day.
To apply we require the following:
One year minimum commitment: Unless otherwise stated in a position's details we try to provide stability for everyone involved, especially the children. We feel it is healthy for everyone involved to make their best effort to maintain a position for a year and preferably longer. We know family emergencies, health issue etc. are all a part of life, so there is no penalty for leaving a position at any time we just ask for the true intention of being there for a year or more.
CPR and First Aid for Infants and Children: Because you will be alone with children this is essential. If you do not have a current certification you can get one before beginning a position. However this is a job requirement so it is your responsibility to enroll and pay for a course before beginning a position. Certifications expire every 2 to 3 years and it is essential to re-certify. Here are links to companies offering appropriate training: http://www.sja.ca/bc
Background Check: Once officially hired by a family we will send you forms to gain your consent for us to do a criminal background check. Not Just Nannies realizes the expense involved in this and does the check through the agency at no charge to the applicant.
References: We require at least two recent professional child related references. We prefer reference letters when ever possible. We require the telephone number of your references.
